Carlingford
On Monday our class took a trip down to the Carlingford adventure centre in County Louth. I had to get up a 6am which was a bit of a struggle for me as I am definitely not a morning person! .We all met up for the bus at 7 o clock and we headed for Carlingford.
We arrived at around 8:30am. My 1st impression of Carlingford was that it was a very remote and quiet village. We were met by our guides at the centre and they gave us all a very warm welcome. We were then shown to our rooms I was sharing a room with 12 other girls.
For our 1st activity we did team building exercises. We got split into groups and we had to work together to solve various challenges. Fortunately I had a great team and we worked very well together. We won all of our challenges and we got to go to lunch 1st.
After lunch we went up to the mountains to I forest were we went laser combating. We were all dressed in army gear and each of us had a laser gun and a head target. We got split into 2 teams and we played many games such as 'capture the flag' and 'king of the hill'. The teams got very competitive towards each other. It was great fun and I would love to try it again sometime in the future.
That evening at around 7 o clock we set of to the forest again. It took us for what felt like hours to get to the top of the mountain. We were then blindfolded and we had to walk through the forest. We formed a line and we all held on to the person in front us. The experience was scary and exciting at the same time. When we eventually made it through the forest and took of our blindfolds it was pitch dark, if it wasn't for our guides touches we wouldn't of been able to see at all.
When we arrived back to the centre and to our rooms I was exhausted from the busy day. I feel asleep as soon as my head touched the pillow.
The next morning we woke up nice and early again at 8 o clock. We had kayaking scheduled for the morning unfortunately it was raining and I had a cold, the last thing that I wanted to do was get into a wet wetsuit and kayak in the irish sea! However I did it anyway and I ended up having a great time. We paddled across the bay and we even visited a beautiful waterfall in a cave that has a legend behind it that if you wash yourself in it you would live for an extra day of your life.
After kayaking we had more land activities including archery, a maze and zorbing. I enjoyed the zorbing the most as it was really good fun tumbling around in them and bumping into each other.
After that we had to say goodbye to Carlingford and return home again to Celbridge. We all had a blast and I hope to return to it again sometime!
